Premier is excited to announce the addition of XtraBond®9714 to our line of products. XtraBond®9714 is a one-component, moisture curing liquid applied flashing and sealant. The product’s one component design is formulated for clean, easy application over horizontal and vertical surfaces. The low VOC, non sag formula has been engineered to deliver aggressive adhesion to the most common construction substrates.

What is a Liquid Applied Flashing?

But first, let’s back up.  What exactly is a liquid applied flashing? Exactly as it sounds, it is a liquid applied flashing membrane that can be used to create a continuous, smooth barrier to protect a building envelope against the elements. The seamless air and water barrier provide instant protection.

Benefits

For installers, working with traditional flashing tape around complex window and door openings can be an overly complex task with endless cutting, folding and reconfiguring. These applications are where XtraBond®9714 is ideal.  The product flows easily, taking the shape of the substrate, regardless of the complexity.

Application

If you are using XtraBond®9714 to flash a window rough opening, apply a generous amount on the surfaces that need flashing with a caulk or sausage gun and then spread the material out with a trowel or a plastic spreading tool. There should be enough material to make an opaque layer that you can’t see through.

XtraBond®9714 can be applied on both Vertical and Horizontal Surfaces.  The versatile formulation can be applied in a wide range of temperature and weather conditions. It is approved for both interior and exterior use.

Standing Out

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has published a new document, titled AAMA 714-22 Specification for Liquid Applied Flashing Used to Create a Water-Resistive Seal Around Exterior Wall Openings in Buildings. This new publication establishes minimum performance requirements for liquid applied flashing used to provide water-resistive seals around exterior wall openings in buildings. The AAMA 714 document sets minimum performance and durability requirements for these materials. Both the IRC and IBC codes require the use of these materials in flashing applications. XtraBond®9714 is one of only then products to meets these requirements.
